"50"
In honor of HRMDC's 50th anniversary, our spring 2026 show, entitled "50," will celebrate and honor our company's past through nostalgia, reflections and reinvention. The show will invite audiences to experience the company’s history through movement. Rather than a static object, our company’s legacy is one that is dynamic and constantly evolving.
"50" asks the question: What happens when a new generation of choreographers responds directly to the themes that shaped earlier HRMDC showcases? Each student choreographer will select the theme of a past HRMDC show and reimagine it through their own movement language. These historical themes will function less as blueprints and more as creative catalysts, sparking pieces that speak simultaneously to the past and to our present moment. The work of our alumni stands beside our current student pieces as a reminder that HRMDC’s history is not only something we inherit, but something we continue to build together. "50" reflects on the artists and ideas that shaped us, but it also looks ahead, carried by the curiosity and imagination of the dancers performing here today. This show is a celebration of history as a living force—one that influences us, challenges us, and supports us as we create new work that future dancers will someday inherit.
